Laptops Vs. Desktops - The Choice between Utility & Power
In this era of information and technology, computers have become an indispensible part of our everyday lives. It is hard to imagine a single day without the use of such systems as humans have become unimaginably dependent on these machines. It is almost impossible for us to work, study and even communicate and socialize without them. These machines are becoming more powerful, versatile, portable and customizable each passing day. With that, there has been a tidal wave of different kinds of computer systems mainly classified into two major category; Laptops and Desktop Computers. Ever since the commercialization of these portable laptops, there has been that controversial debate about which is better; Laptops or Desktops. The answer is pretty simple though; it depends. Yes, it depends on the users, their needs, preferences and the functions they want to perform with their systems. Even so, many of us struggle to decide between the two when deciding to buy a computer system. With that in mind, here is a brief comparison of different computer systems.
Laptops & Notebooks:
Laptops and Notebooks are best for utility and portability. They are small and wireless. Hence, they can be carried anywhere without any hitch and be used for daily needs. These systems are becoming smaller each day giving more mobility to their users. But this luxury of portability and mobility comes at a price. Being small in size these systems lack in power. It is harder to fit bigger and more powerful hardware to these systems than their bulky desktop counterpart. This limits their functionality at a certain point. Nonetheless these systems are powerful enough to do everyday work and serves most educational and work purposes Laptops and Notebooks are best for students and casual users. Another factor to consider is the price. Laptops can be expensive considering the power output as you can buy a desktop with better specifications at a lower price. This is because of the brand value, stylish outlook and most importantly, freedom of mobility these systems provide. If your priority is light to medium use with high flexibility; laptops and notebooks are perfect for you.
Desktop computers are bigger, bulkier and more often than not, more powerful than laptops. But due to the size and wired nature, they lack mobility and portability. Despite that they make up of that in terms of power and customizability. There is quite an array of options to choose from while deciding on a desktop.
The All-in-one PC:
These are basically complete pre packed desktop computer sets made by a single manufacturer. All components of the desktop are made and branded by the same manufacturer and come in one single set. These computers are considerably more costly compared to their hybrid counterparts. The prices may vary with the specification of the systems.
The Hybrid PC:
Hybrid computers are the cheapest in cost and have almost unlimited customizability. You can basically choose every single hardware component you want and have a computer tailor made to suit your specific needs are requirements. These are usually cheaper because of the fact that you can customize it according your needs and control the cost while doing so. Hybrid computers are the first choice for people who perform heavy tasks that require hefty computing power. Hybrid computers are also best for gamers, designers and people who do heavy creative work.
